Search is on for academies with the ‘X Factor’

Academies and free schools with star quality are being invited to share the secrets of their success.

The Education Funding Agency (EFA) announced in June that it was looking for examples of best practice in academies and free schools to share with the sector.

The EFA said: “Are you doing something (big or small) which has improved the running of your school?

“Have you used your freedoms to improve the performance of your school? Or [is there] anything else you have done which has made a big difference to the running of your school?”

The EFA is inviting academies and free schools to send their best practice examples to its academies enquiry service at academyquestions@efa.education.gov.uk and the best will be selected to appear on the EFA’s website.

The new freedoms and flexibilities that accompany academy or free school status provide opportunities for developing new ways of working that can bring real benefits to students and staff and can help to drive up performance and achievement.
