Wet weather failed to dampen spirits at a golf day sponsored by Halesowen-based chartered accountancy firm Nicklin LLP, with the event raising an impressive £4,000 for charity.
Held at the Worcestershire Golf Club, in Malvern Wells, the event was organised by Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce, with Nicklin sponsoring the day to raise money for the Emily Jordan Foundation.
The Emily Jordan Foundation aims to help young adults with moderate learning disabilities learn new skills to eventually enable them to either enter the workplace or otherwise contribute to society.
Harvey Owen, managing partner at Nicklin, said: “The event was a huge success, with 20 teams taking part and team slots being filled weeks in advance.
“The weather started off terribly but ended with sunshine and, more importantly, we were able to raise thousands of pounds for an extremely worthy cause. I would like to thank everyone who took part for their generosity.”
First prize on the day went to West Midlands Safari Park, second went to David Lloyd Leisure and third went to Beard Creative. The event was followed by dinner in the clubhouse, with the after-dinner speech given by Peter McGovern, former head professional at The Belfry.
