Halesowen-based chartered accountancy firm Nicklin LLP is further demonstrating its commitment to encouraging the business leaders of tomorrow by offering an internship to a local student.
Aneesah Altaf, who has just finished her A-levels at King Edward VI Sixth Form College, in Stourbridge, started her month-long internship at the firm on Monday (2 July).
During the next month, Aneesah will be given first-hand experience of how Nicklins operates, spending time in each of its departments. The placement was arranged after Mark Howell, a partner at the firm, visited a careers fair at the college to talk to students about preparing for the world of employment. She was then interviewed and chosen from a shortlist of two.
As well as King Edward VI Sixth Form College, Nicklins enjoys successful relationships with several other schools and sixth form colleges in the area, including Redhill School, in Stourbridge; Earls High School, in Halesowen, and Haybridge High School, in Hagley.
In addition to attending careers fairs and sponsoring school prizes, Nicklins also provides work experience placements, with eight students each spending a week at the firm throughout July and the first week of August.
Partner Mark Howell, who handles the firm’s work experience placements, said: “As a firm, we have always been committed to encouraging and supporting the area’s academic achievers. We believe that the brilliant students of today could well go on to become the business leaders of tomorrow.
“While we have always offered work experience to local students, I am delighted to welcome Aneesah as our intern for the month. I hope that the time she spends with us will give her a useful insight into the profession and help her decide on a future career path once she completes her university studies.”
